Hi there,

Picture a fairly ordinary day.

You’re halfway through a job when a new inquiry comes in. You glance at it, decide it looks promising and put your phone away. You’ll call when you’re done.

Then the next appointment runs late. Someone on your team needs an answer. By the time you get home, you remember the inquiry—but not quite where it came from.

Was it email? Instagram? That form on your website?

A good inquiry, buried in a busy day

There’s a particular frustration in that moment. You’ve worked to get people interested in your business, and now a perfectly ordinary working day is making it hard to look after them.

“Be more organized” isn’t much help when you’re already doing five jobs at once.

Here’s something smaller to try: give every open inquiry a next step before you move on.

One sentence is enough

For example:

  • “Jordan will call Tuesday afternoon to confirm the service area.”
  • “Send the estimate after the customer shares photos.”
  • “Check in Thursday about the quote, unless they reply first.”

That sentence should answer three questions:

  1. What needs to happen?
  2. Who will do it?
  3. When will they check back?

Compare that with “follow up later.” Later has a way of getting pushed behind whatever feels urgent.

You can start with a notebook, a shared sheet or a lead management tool. Pick one place your team will actually check. When a conversation moves forward, update the next step there.

Your five-minute check before finishing today

Look for:

  • An inquiry without a reply.
  • A quote without an answer.
  • A conversation where everyone might assume someone else is handling it.

Choose the next action for each. If someone has declined or asked you to stop contacting them, close the loop and leave them be.

You don’t have to clear the whole list tonight. Give tomorrow’s you a clear place to start.

Where Motion lyd fits

This is the everyday work we’re building around: keeping lead details, ownership, conversations and follow-up reminders together, so you can pick up where you left off.

But you can try the habit today, with whatever you already use.

Where do inquiries tend to get stuck in your business: before the first reply, after the quote or when they’re passed between teammates?

Reply with the one that sounds familiar. If you’re reading on the website, write to team@motionlyd.com. No customer details needed—we’re interested in the part of the process that’s giving you trouble.
